Did you know?
Pure coffee contains many compounds and organic acids that are good for beauty care, gentle exfoliation, weight loss and more. Besides the beans we drink, coffee husks and spent coffee grounds each have their own uses.
The hull and silverskin of coffee beans contain two compounds, protocatechuic acid and gallic acid, which have anti-inflammatory properties and reduce insulin resistance. They are used to produce medicines for diabetes and heart disease.
After the beans are separated from the husks, the dried coffee husks are used to make beverages and tea.
In addition, coffee husks contain up to 80% of the organic matter needed to make microbial fertilizer in agriculture.
Just like antioxidant fruits such as pomegranate and blueberry, spent coffee grounds are just as good. The antioxidant flavonoids help prevent premature skin aging.
They exfoliate the body and protect the skin from the sun.
They are a natural cleaner that can replace chemical cleaning agents, removing stains from pots, pans, microwaves and more.
What's more, spent coffee grounds contain nitrogen, which helps purify the air and absorb odors; they are often used to deodorize refrigerators and microwaves and remove bad smells from household items.
Those are some of the uses of coffee husks and spent coffee grounds. Give them a try!

Why does Robusta coffee produce a better crema than Arabica? Put simply: first, Robusta’s higher acid content gives it a better ability to form crema; second, Robusta has less oil, so its crema stays stable longer than an extraction made entirely from Arabica.

How to make a great espresso? What affects the crema of an espresso? Crema is mainly created by air (mostly CO2) in the coffee cells when brewed with a high-pressure coffee machine. It emulsifies the coffee oils in the extract – oil normally cannot dissolve in water, but under high pressure the oil droplets are broken down to microscopic size and can disperse in the water. This emulsion, combined with some CO2 gas, forms the crema foam we are talking about.
